TESTIMONIALS

There’s no better way to get a feel for the congenial community, innovative programming, and top-notch facilities of WindsorMeade Williamsburg than to read the personal stories of our current residents. The testimonials below will give you an intimate glimpse into the place so many call home.

From Marylou

I really enjoy the freedom to do what I want with my free time. I find that I have lots of options in the varied programs offered by WindsorMeade. In fact I believe that we are busier now than when I lived in my own home. I have attended concerts and plays, have had a great dinner at a local restored plantation, and have gone on a number of local and overnight trips sponsored by WindsorMeade. Moreover, I enjoy the closeness to the interesting places in the Virginia historic triangle. Meeting my neighbors has been a highlight of my move. The residents of WindsorMeade are a congenial group with many varied interests. They are very helpful and supportive of everyone in the community. I have three grown children and seven grandchildren, and they have all visited me here and have used the guest rooms for overnight stays. The highlight of our family year is the annual gathering of the whole family at the beach for a week of fun. I also like living in this area with fairly mild weather year-round and get to enjoy the glory and color of the four seasons in Williamsburg.

A man and women looking at each happy while touring Windsor Meade

From Heather and Jim Williams…

What do we enjoy most about our life right now? Not having to cook! Also, sailing, and exploring Williamsburg and the prime outlet discount stores. We find WindsorMeade residents to be exceptionally friendly and thoughtful. One evening we had great fun attending a special dinner buffet in the lovely Bistro and sharing a large table with other residents who arrived at the same time. From there our ‘happen-stance’ group attended a William and Mary College choral group concert in the Windsor Hall Kensington Room — a great time enjoyed by all.

H Donald & Carol Nelson

Donald, also known as Don, and Carol moved to WindsorMeade from Travelers Rest, South Carolina, but spent many of their years in Chicago, Illinois. The Nelsons have three children and five grandchildren.

Don enjoyed a career in consumer technology and worked for General Electric, Proctor & Gamble, Texas Instruments and U.S. Cellular. He is active at Northwestern University, at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management Deans and Alumni Advisory boards. Don is a collector of U.S. stamps, glass paperweights and autographs, and he loves to cook, travel and study American History. Along with owning a small antiques business, Carol spent her career as a registered nurse, homemaker and interior designer. She enjoys needlework, watercolor painting, reading, sewing and traveling.

The Nelsons chose WindsorMeade so their adult children wouldn’t have to worry about them as they grow older. And their favorite thing about WindsorMeade? “All our new neighbors–who have quickly become our good friends!”

Bev moved to WindsorMeade from the local Kingsmill community. She has three daughters and eight grandchildren. Bev was born in Youngstown, Ohio, but has lived in many interesting places including Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina and Belgium.

Bev is very involved in Friends of Muscarelle Museum, the Christopher Wren Association Board, Friends of Reves Center and the Williamsburg Symphonia League. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, going to plays and concerts, the opera and bridge. While she chose WindsorMeade for many reasons, like the newness and size of WindsorMeade and living in an apartment, Bev enjoys that the amenities, activities and dining are all under one roof, plus the location is excellent! Her favorite things about WindsorMeade are many–“The team members are so friendly and it’s so nice having young people working with us– it’s definitely a pleasure! Michael and Renate Junge

Michael and Renate moved to WindsorMeade from Virginia Beach, Virginia. They both call Germany home.

Michael graduated from Engineering School in Cologne and spent almost his entire career in manufacturing management in the industrial pump field. Renate worked as a multi-lingual executive secretary in Geneva and Virginia Beach and she was an avid golfer in Germany. Michael and Renate both enjoy biking, hiking, birding, travel, classical music and wine, using their Apple computer and attending Christopher Wren classes. The Junges chose WindsorMeade because they enjoy their spacious villa, and the fact that they can walk to the nearby shopping centers as well as observe the array of wildlife found at WindsorMeade.

Their favorite thing about WindsorMeade is all the free time to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. Michael and Renate like to spend time with their friends, exercise in the fitness center and attend the extensive offering of lectures right here on campus. And since they don’t have to clean their villa, work in their yard, or do the cooking—free time is something they have plenty of!
