Construction Update – March 10, 2017

March 10, 2017

Thank you for your continued patience during our community’s expansion. We know there has been increased noise and other disruptions recently. We are grateful for your support during this construction phase as we work to improve our community. Alterations to the corridor between the Hadley House Dining Room and Abingdon House are now complete. The sitting area by Hadley House Dining Room will be closed and the piano will be stored until Manchester House is completed. The piano will be relocated to the Living Room in the Manchester House. Shingles currently are being installed on Manchester House; roofing will begin next week on Hadley House. The Hadley House Gathering Room will close at the end of the month. Residents are encouraged to use the social spaces at the ends of the hallway. We are working to determine the best temporary location for the television as we await completion of the new common spaces. On March 13, the Assistant Director of Nursing’s office will temporarily move to Room G255 (located beside the nurse’s desk in Hadley House) for approximately six weeks while the permanent office is being finished. On March 20 and 21, electrical service will be temporarily interrupted throughout Hadley House for short periods of time. The electrical contractor will be moving the circuits, one at a time, from one panel to another, causing brief outages. The Health Services Activity Room will close on March 23; activities will be scheduled in other locations. Please refer to the March Activities Calendar for specific information about alternative locations. Shingle installation on Manchester House is about 80% complete. The Unit Secretaries will be moving from the Hadley House Nursing Desk to the new Reception Area the week of March 27. All of our emergency systems will move to this space on the same date. The main entrance into Health Services area has been temporarily closed and will remain closed for about three weeks. Visitors to Hadley House, arriving from the visitors’ parking lot, should enter through the temporary entrance just to the left of the closed main entrance. Those who need wheelchair access, should use the Team Member parking lot and enter through Abingdon House’s Living Room door. The Health Services Beauty Salon will close for renovation on March 20. That salon is expected to re-open around May 1. Beauty services will continue to be available in the Beauty Salon on the first floor, where hours will be extended. Extended hours will be listed in the “Whistler” and on TouchTown TV. Please use the Abingdon House laundry room while the Hadley House laundry room is unavailable. There will be limited parking intermittently in the Health Services visitor lot during the next few weeks.Team Member UpdatesThe Manchester and Abingdon Household teams have now completed “Household Basics” training. Those teams will now be scheduled for “Serve Safe” training.

Monthly Expansion Update Meetings

The next monthly expansion meeting is scheduled for March 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the Kensington Room.
