Construction Update – September 1, 2017

Fire alarm testing will occur in Manchester House’s kitchen on September 7. Final inspection by James City County officials will occur on September 8.
The Activities Room has not progressed as rapidly as anticipated and is now expected to be completed by September 8. New furnishings have arrived and are being stored on site so that they can be placed as soon as construction is complete.
The Pump House framing has passed inspection, clearing the way for roof construction. Testing of the fire pumps is expected to be completed next week.
Renovation of the Hadley House living room, sun room and den now is scheduled to begin around September 12. That construction will require the nurse’s station to be relocated.
The newly-renovated Health Services Beauty Salon now is scheduled to re-open on September 14. Until then, beauty services will continue to be available in the Beauty Salon on the first floor, where hours have been extended.
The Hadley House Social Worker and the Recreation Therapist offices will relocate in mid- September.
The space that was formerly Hadley House’s Gathering Room will soon become a private dining room. The transformation is moving rapidly as:
- New carpet has been installed.
- The walls have been built; painting is underway.
- Construction will be complete in mid-September.
Planting has been delayed until early fall because the weather is too oppressive for planting at this time.
Please use the Abingdon Neighborhood laundry room while Hadley House’s laundry room is unavailable.

Beth Powell will begin working next week as the RN Clinical Leader for Abingdon and Manchester Neighborhoods.
Monthly Expansion Update Meetings
The next monthly expansion meeting is scheduled for September 11 at 9:30 am in the Kensington Room.
